Bethany Price is a Milwaukee creative, whose main mediums are poetry and fashion. After graduating from UWM with a Bachelor’s in English, she released her first collection of poetry, a chapbook titled all I wanna do through local publisher pity milk press. In 2015 she published Terror, a full-length collection through Vegetarian Alcoholic Press. She started modeling and styling, realizing fashion was something she loved. In the winter of 2016 she curated and took part in her first group photoshoot, the genesis of Plush Decay. Bethany hosts writing groups around the city at cafes, with a wide cast of attendants. She has been hosting these and poetry readings as well since college, and last year started hosting fashion photography meet-ups. She has been interviewed by the 1692 magazine, as well the podcasts Ordinary Freaks and Give Me One Reason. Bethany is Creative Director of The Art Shore, a MKE arts blog which is renovating its website for the new year.
Plush Decay is a photography series that is curated and directed by Bethany Price. She also does most of the styling, with a few models styling themselves. The aim behind this series is to bridge gaps between Milwaukee’s creative communities, as well as bridging generational, racial, and gender gaps.
Plush Decay means dying with fullness - or, a principle to live as full, expressive, and colorful as possible while we are aware of our temporary nature on the earth. Each photo shoot has a different theme and utilizes new collaborators as well as familiar ones. Complete photo sets and mini-essays on each Plush Decay appears on the Art Shore blog, which is undergoing a digital renovation for the new year.
